Upscale an image to 4K online

Bring a low-resolution image up to 3840x2160. Start from the largest copy you have, choose 2x or 4x, and compare the result before you download it.

Start from the largest copy you have

Before any setting matters, the source decides most of the outcome. A 1920x1080 photo doubled to 3840x2160 has real information behind every fourth pixel, so the model only has to fill the gaps. A 480x270 copy gives it a quarter of the pixel grid to work from, so the enlargement is larger and softer. If the original is still on your device, use it, not a version a chat app already resized.

2x or 4x, and what each one is for

The tool offers two enlargements. 4x is twice the factor of 2x, which is why a 4x upscale costs 2 credits against 1 for a 2x, and why it multiplies each dimension by four rather than two: a 1920x1080 photo becomes 3840x2160 at 2x and 7680x4320 at 4x.

For a 4K screen the 2x is usually the whole job. Reach for 4x when the source is smaller than you need and still worth enlarging, such as a screenshot or an old photo you have at one size only.

Where the free tier stops

The free tier takes an input up to 2 MP and returns an output up to 8 MP, with 3 upscales a day per IP and no signup. A 1600x1200 file doubled fits comfortably. A 1080p original is 2,073,600 pixels, just over the free input limit, and doubling it is 8,294,400 output pixels, just over the free output cap, so both go through Pro.

Pro raises the input to 25 MP and the output to 64 MP, and charges by the work rather than the file: a 2x upscale costs 1 credit and a 4x upscale costs 2 credits, with 100 credits a month for $9. The pricing page lists the subscription and the one-time packs.

Compare it, then download it

Your original and the result appear on a slider at the size each one actually is, so you can judge the guesswork instead of trusting a number. Nothing is watermarked, the download is the full-resolution PNG, and the upload and the result are deleted automatically 1 hour after the upscale.

Upscaling an image to 4K

Can I upscale a 1080p photo to 4K?

Yes, with a single 2x upscale: 1920x1080 goes to 3840x2160, the 4K frame size. A 1080p original is just over the free input limit, so that one runs on Pro, and the result is a PNG at exactly the doubled dimensions.

Does upscaling an image to 4K add detail that was not there?

It adds pixels, not information. The model predicts the pixels in between, so a sharp 1080p source comes out looking like a 4K photograph, while a small thumbnail comes out larger and still soft. Start from the best source you have.

How much does it cost?

Free with no account: input up to 2 MP, output up to 8 MP, and 3 upscales a day per IP. Anything larger is Pro, at $9 a month for 100 credits a month, where a 2x upscale costs 1 credit and a 4x upscale costs 2 credits. The pricing page has every figure.

Which files can I upload?

JPG, PNG, and WebP up to 50 MB each, and the result is a PNG. An animated file is refused rather than reduced to a single frame.

Is my image kept?

No. Uploads and results are private, delivered over short-lived signed links, and deleted automatically 1 hour after the upscale. The privacy page states the window for each path.
